Outlook 365 Login Loop Fix

Additional Information

If outlook is constantly asking you for your login information, follow the steps below to fix that.

(question)  Should you have any questions or concerns with the instructions, please notify the Technology Service Center for assistance.

Step 1

Close the Outlook program completely if it is open.

Step 2

Open the search bar and type in Credential Manager. Then open the program.

Step 3

Select the Windows Credentials option.

Step 4

Look for the Generic Credentials section.

Step 5

Under the Generic Credentials section, you will need to look for any credentials related to Outlook email and remove them. The names of the credentials that most users will have to remove are below. You may not have all of the credentials listed and that is okay.

  • autodiscover-s.outlook.com

  • MicrosoftOffice16_Data:SSPI:

  • outlook.office365.com

  • SSO_POP_Device

Step 6

To remove the credential click on the credential to open it. Then, click the Remove button.

A warning message will appear, click Yes.

That will remove the Credential. Repeat this process for all of the credentials related to Outlook email.

Step 7

Open Outlook and the Windows Security pop-up box will appear. This next piece of information is important so please pay attention!

For the username, enter your HCC login ID and then the @howardcc.edu. For example, if your name is John Smith and your HCC login ID is jsmith1234, then enter jsmith1234@howardcc.edu in the username field.

For the password, use the password that you set in password services.

Select the Remember my credentials checkbox and then click OK.

You should be able to login to Outlook now without it constantly asking for you to enter your credentials.
